ARELY walks towards the break room. INT. BREAK ROOM - PRIORITY 1

JORGE eyes her coming in. JORGE JUAN was so good last month, I'm taking a date to his show tonight. How do you even meet friends with a great sense of humour when you've got none? ARELY I'm not in the mood JORGE. JORGE That's exactly what I'm talking about. Always no nonsense, acting tough and serious. We're not in university anymore and your marketing degree took you nowhere, so you might as well be happy. ARELY Thanks. So first I get fired and then my friend decides to remind me my life has led nowhere. JORGE Ah shit, you too? Augustina just got fired but she doesn't need the money like you do. ARELY What's that supposed to mean. JORGE Not supposed to mean anything, ARELY, I was just making conversation. ARELY Conversation about my milagro? JORGE You know I'd never call Elisa like that, homes. We've known each other since that block party in first year way, way back. Cool your jets. If you don't have a chill pill on ya, I'll take you out for some chilli and guac. ARELY No, I need to go home and start finding a new place to work. JORGE Well hold on, (JORGE shows his cell phone) if you're looking for marketing jobs, you can find them on LinkedIn. ARELY JORGE, haven't you been on there since first year? JORGE Yeah so? ARELY Well you've never gotten a job on that site. Also, we both graduated from the same program, so shouldn't you apply? JORGE Maybe, but I'm not getting fired here and you are. Bunch of people are getting let go, they're cutting back on costs and expenses. ARELY How did you keep yourself safe. JORGE Offer them an 20% off. ARELY We're only allowed to offer 10. JORGE Well 20 is lower than anyone else, so they take it. I get the sale, my conversions go up. They get their bill in a month or two, and when they call, they reach inbound. Not our department. It's that agent's call whether to bring it down to 20% or to charge the customer for early cancellation, but as long as I tell the prospects my name is Joe, they assume it's a Jose in outbound, not me. ARELY But the company keeps call logs. They know who's signed which numbers. JORGE Yeah, but supervisors here would need to care enough to look it up, and let me tell you, our database is absolute garbage. Hot steaming garbage. ARELY It needs less than a minute to get all the data on my screen, seems alright. JORGE That's after your computer asks for a single person's piece of data. There's millions of numbers and the thing is not optimized or normalized whatsoever. Anytime they want to add extra data, they add more columns which makes EVERY user row take up more space. ARELY I'm going to pretend I know what any of that means while I get the name of this company written down. JORGE Why haven't you gotten your phone fixed yet?
